Why Proper Maintenance and Gutter Replacement is Important

Price Brothers Restoration is a professional roofing company in Pickerington, proudly serving the greater Central Ohio area. With over 25 years of experience, our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional roofing solutions tailored to your needs.

Gutters and downspouts play a critical role in protecting your home from water damage by directing rainwater down from your roof and away from your home’s foundation. Properly functioning gutters prevent issues such as:

  • basement flooding
  • structural damage to your basement walls due to water/soil pressure
  • erosion or landscaping washout
  • mold on siding
  • and more

Investing in high-quality, well-maintained gutters ensures your home stays safe, durable, and aesthetically pleasing.

Local Professional Gutter Replacement Services in Pickerington, Ohio

At Price Brothers Restoration, we provide a variety of gutter services to maintain proper drainage and protect your home from water damage.

Gutter Inspection

Regular inspections are crucial for maintaining the efficiency of your gutters. Our comprehensive gutter inspection services identify potential issues like:

  • Sagging or improper gutter slopes
  • Clogged, blocked, or leaking gutters and downspouts
  • damage to your gutters, downspouts, or gutter guards

Inspecting your gutters and checking for clogs are a proactive way to allow for timely repairs, maintenance, and prevent costly damage down the road.

Rain Gutter Installation, Gutter Replacement, and Downspouts

When gutters have significantly deformed, are cracking, rusting, molding or overflowing, or maybe you want to match your gutter colors with other home improvements, those are all good reasons to replace your gutters.

We offer comprehensive gutter replacement services to remove old or damaged gutters and install new residential gutter systems, made from high-quality materials that provide superior protection and functionality.

We connect gutters to drainage downspouts, ensuring proper sloping and limiting downspout bend angles to avoid clogs. In most residential neighborhoods, we connect downspouts to piping that outlets into the street but we do NOT do any underground work if that has yet to be installed. When street outlets are not present for homes on local streets or country roads, we can install splash blocks for erosion control.

Gutter Materials, Colors, Shapes, and Styles

Residential gutters are most commonly made from aluminum, vinyl, copper, or galvanized steel, for optimal performance and longevity. Depending on the type of material you choose, gutters come in a wide variety of colors to match the aesthetic color combinations you desire. We can provide recommendations of colors based on your home’s roof and siding colors.

For shapes of gutters, we generally recommend K-style gutters over half-rounded gutters. K-styles have been proven to be more efficient and can withstand debris more effectively than half-round. That said, there are some City codes or HOA’s that require half-rounded gutters and we will comply with those requirements and your preferences as needed.

Seamless gutters leak less than traditional segmented gutters due to their “one-piece” nature with no breaks in a gutter run. Seamless gutters are the only kind we install and we cut these gutters to size to match your home’s dimensions on-site. While both are effective when installed properly, we’ve seen significantly less problems over time with seamless gutters and that’s why they are the only type we install.

Gutter Guard Installation Services

The #1 reason your gutters get damaged or clogged is because of debris entering the gutter and stopping the flow of water. Depending on the layout of your yard and amount of tree cover, we highly recommend protecting your gutters with gutter guards. Gutter guards prevent leaves, sticks and other debris from entering your gutters, reducing clogging, ensuring smooth water flow, and reducing the need for frequent cleaning and maintenance.

Gutter Project Visualization

While most of what we do is for protecting your home, what you get as a homeowner is a visual product, the gutters and downspouts on your home. With design tools at our fingertips, we’re able to create a visual representation of what your home would look like with various styles and colors prior to them being installed on your home. This will allow you to coordinate aesthetics combinations to your liking to give you a good representation of the final product. While these are just tools and they won’t 100% match, we’re sure you’ll be pleased with choices and how they match after your gutter project is completed.

Frequently asked Gutter Questions

  • How much do new gutters cost?

The cost of new gutters varies depending on the material and linear feet required. Most residential homes require between 100-250 linear feet, equating to $1,000 - $5,000 in total cost, depending on material, style and color chosen. For a more accurate estimate, we recommend scheduling a free consultation with Price Brothers Restoration.

  • How much should a gutter overhang?

Gutters should extend past the end of your shingles and drop edge by about 2 to 3 inches. This ensures that water is effectively captured and water doesn’t flow down the roof and over the gutters.

  • How often should gutters be cleaned?

Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year, typically in the spring and fall. Regular cleaning helps prevent clogs, water damage, and ensures your gutters function properly throughout the year.

  • How do you clean gutters and downspouts?

Grab a ladder, a bucket, some gloves. Using your hands, scrape the bottom of the gutter and remove all the debris and shingle granules. If you see a clog in a downspout or other area, use some needle nose pliers or other device to try and pull out as much debris as possible, removing the clog. Downspout bends are often screwed together and those may need to be taken apart to fully clear the clog.

When you are done removing as much as possible and water is flowing again, be sure to grab your hose and spray out both the gutter and downspout, ensuring the water is flowing properly. If standing water remains in your gutter while flushing the last of the debris, it’s likely your gutter has a low spot with improper sloping.

  • Is it ok to hang Christmas lights from your gutters? With gutter guards?

Yes, it is ok to hang Christmas lights from your gutters, with or without gutter guards. Generally, clips are attached to the gutters or bottom course of shingles, with the hooks facing away from the house. These should have no effect on your gutters or the drainage.

When you are done removing as much as possible and water is flowing again, be sure to grab your hose and spray out both the gutter and downspout, ensuring the water is flowing properly. If standing water remains in your gutter while flushing the last of the debris, it’s likely your gutter has a low spot with improper sloping.
